Have to restart the bike to get assistance to work

Hi, I have this problem on my Levo where I sometimes lose assistance. When that happens I have to restart the bike.

I found what causes the issue: it happens when I put a lot of power into the cranks and then I stall while climbing. So basically when I try a climb that is too hard for me, once I stall, the bike wont give me assistance until I restart it.

It does not happen every time I stall, but it can happen once or twice in a 2h long ride if I attempt a lot of hard climbs.

Do you guys experience this issue?

I contacted Specialized about this. I'm waiting for their reply. Btw, I'm running the latest firmware (2.23.1) but I also had the issue with 2.22.

Thanks

Is it 1.2 brose motor? If so are you running firmare ver 4? I had the same problem and as far as i could find out its some bug that cuts power cos it thinks theres no cadence. If you can keep the highest cadence possible while climbing it should minimise this.
My 2018 levo does not do it

I have experienced loss of drive and simply turning it off and on again worked. It did fail when doing as you descibed, just randomly stopped when you stopped 2 min break.
It has only done this a few times over the past year...

On the levo/ kenevo the magnet is held on by two of the brake rotor bolts so its impossible to misalign

I contacted Specialized they say it is probably because the motor is a little loose in the frame and putting a lot of torque in the cranks might cause the motor to rotate a bit and lose connection to the battery. I'd have to open the case and rethighten the 3 bolts. I did not yet. They also said that whenever the motor connection is lost or the sensor loses track of the wheel, the bike has to be restarted.

They were pretty sure it's not a software issue.

Even if the motor did move that wouldnt cause it to stop, the main cuprit is the battery to motor cable, the battery plug being the main culprit but if you ride through water and deep mud a lot the cable plug on the motor end is also suspect. Its worth it every few months to unplug the motor end and check the o rings on the plug are doing their job.
Brilliant bikes but very stupid battery to motor connections

I've had this happen after using the walk mode. The first time I turned off and back on and that worked. Since then after the walk mode I hit the + on the remote and that seems to override the bug.

Does anyone get an intermittent issue with walk mode not actually activating? I’ve had it on 2 Levo’s and a Kenevo.

Yes mine is a bit intermitent. I found you have to press the button then start pushing and after a few feet it cuts in

I get. Sometimes it works sometimes doesnt. Sometimes it works and after some time like 1 minute it stops working. I have turbo levo 2018 (old not newest model).
