I've lost count of the number of times I've come to a sudden stop on my Jam2 with undergrowth stuck in the rear derailleur. The GX Eagle fitted to mine has a huge bottom jockey wheel which seems to attract rubbish which will, with the power of the motor, soon trash the derailleur. Fortunately, only bent mine so far.

With the state of yours, you could well have smashed it against a rock although the vegetation around your jockey wheel suggests not.

Stuff happens. I'm on my 3rd derailleur in 6 months. I now have a spare derailleur, spare cage and even a spare complete wheel set.

I've been riding a long time, but even if I only count the mtb years, I still have never broken a mech. Not to say that I haven't banged a few, requiring realignment. But I've never broken one to that extent, or even to any extent!
I must try harder! :giggle:
