Right hello all. I have a Thule roofrack on my car. It sounds stupid but the roofrack is rated to 20kg. Would you chance a 21.5kg Ebike on it ? I have had conflicting reports that “its fine, they are tested to more than that at factory” to “ hell no rack says 20kg for a reason”
Has anyone done this?
What were the results ?
Totally confused !!

You can try, but don't expect much sympathy from the manufacturer if it fails and you have an expensive accident. Personally I wouldn't take the risk (or perhaps that's just cos I don't think I could lift a 20kg+ ebike onto the roof as I do with my analogue trail bike!).

i dunno, i brought my bike(22 kg) home from the dealer on the yakima highroad on my hatch back. It too is rated a 20 kg. I think i will use it again but while driving like a little old lady. Additionally i have some ratchet straps to reinforce where the rack meets the crossbars. It should be ok but gone are the saturday morning twisty road sports car outings on the way to the trailhead
