Does anyone know what may have caused these gouges in my frame / swinging arm.
These pictures are from underneath and I haven't noticed them before so I don't know when they happened. They are on both sides marked in red.
I can feel them they are deeper than paint scratches.

They look like rub marks potentially caused by cable ties, have you had a rear mudguard that mounted by cable ties in roughly that spot?

Yes I did have a mudguard on there but didn't notice any marks. They seem quite deep to be caused by plastic but I suspect that you may be right. Thanks for the suggestion.

I wrap self amalgamating around the back of my bike to stop the cable ties and anything else from damaging it.

Cable ties and brake/cable hoses can be bad when they rub against carbon/alloy. I try and do the above or slap some heli tape on to protect the frame.

I wouldn't worry about your frame looking at those photo's though, it looks cosmetic.

Thanks for the replies and re-assurance.
I think I will try Bones’ tape trick though as my brake lines are tie wrapped on through purpose made lugs in the frame. A slight worry though.
