Hi all,
iam in a dilemma,2 year old bike with a bosch gen4 motor 2000 miles
now its out of warranty, shall i get the upgrade done for it?
what is the average mileage of peoples motors before crank bearings show play,or needing a service?
shall i do preventative service and send it to performance line?
or shall i leave it until the crank bearings start playing up?
just wondering what the average mileage is before i send it away.
many thanks.

the problem is that it is variable largely depending on the sort of use the bike has had. The main problem is water ingress and the resulting corrosion of some elements rather than wear per se. My advice would be to be guided by how the motor feels. If it still feels free, no new noises etc it is probably still fine. I have one Bosch CX that has done just over 1300 miles, so less than yours, but I can detect no difference to how it sounds or feels compared to when it was new, and as long as that is the case I will not be considering getting it checked over.
