Hello from Frank,
After many moons being away from the MTB world got the itch recently and then had a heart attack in regard to the cost of these modern eMTB beasts. Biggest issue is off setting the money / convincing the wife that I need a brand new full sus in my life.
A month or 2 ago the seed was implanted and the YouTube feed algorithm began spitting out ebike goodness. Priced up ebike conversion for the cargo bike and quoted the Mrs 800€.... convinced her & myself that value is better spent on a new bike.
Last week finally found the Dutch courage to go and test ride a couple of entry models I had on the radar budget approx 2.5k (wife thinks an Aldi special is too expensive even though I have broken 2 of her el cheapo bikes)!
First shop is the local specialised concept store in Hamburg.
They happened to have the Levo Hardtail in bright yellow but rrp of 3500€. In the corner of the shop I noticed another ht in light blue looking like a shop demo model. I asked if that was for sale.
After a little negotiation and an extended test ride I walked out of the shop with a Levo ht.
From what I can gather not every thing is original on the bike with RockShox Judy front shock (black) and a coupe of other chain set differences compared to the stock model.
The bike has 1500km and approx 48 battery cycles (no idea what this means).
Oh the bummer is that the bike is an XL. BUT for the price I paid with full dealer back up and apparently a 2 year warranty I cannot grumble in the slightest.
Got hope v4 & tech 3 levers with 203mm discs to go on (awaiting new braided lines) and deciding if I should swap out the original rear wheel with my hopefive hoop and hub. Got a spare front hub in the attic so actually thinking about dropping some 35mm hope rims on him.
Last but not least all of 5 minutes was spent with the Mrs and I contemplating names. Frankenstein seemed appropriate hence a warm hello from Frank.
Already got a couple of 3 questions on the horizon, namely the 400w battery and expected life remaining and if it is worth while identifying a battery extender / battery upgrade. 800€ is a heap of money, over 50% of the value that I paid for Frank.
Cheers in advance
Pecca
