Not got one yet but had a seat on an 18 (M) which is my normal size and it felt a bit cramped, had a very brief ride on a 20 (L) never been my size and may be felt a wee big but not overly big.

So question is, did you get your normal size frame or did you size up ?

Thanks for that, not so sure I'm any further forward though :ROFLMAO: seems it's a bit split either way.

I had the same dilemma. Medium 18" 2017 Cube has always felt comfortable (5'10") but looked to get a 2020 Action Team. Right on the cusp of medium and large so ordered the medium but had doubts so tried a large and medium back to back. Medium then felt a bit cramped because the new geometry is quite different to 2017 and whilst the large felt better it just felt a touch too big and more importantly seemed very heavy. Ended up with a large Specialized Turbo Levo Comp which feels just right for me (short legs/longer arms). 23kgs before adding bits.

Using the size calculator on Wheelbase just left me more confused because you can input arm and inside leg measurements as well as overall height. Same thing with sizing for Specialized because recommendation suggested medium for my height. However I had tried a medium and it felt a bit cramped and a couple of places both said I looked too big on the medium.

Unfortunately, the conclusion is that you really have to try them because they cost such a lot. Difficult now though. Having said that I'm sure I would probably have adapted to either size.

I wasn't allowed a shot on the shop's medium cause it was brand new, it was a large demo I was able to have a little wheel round on, felt a bit of a stretch where the medium that I was only able to sit on felt a bit cramped. Not sure if the large having 27.5's and the medium having 29 made any difference or not.

Check out the geometry on both to see. If you are comparing 160 travel 27.5 with a 140 29er there might well feel a difference.

This was the issue, two different wheel sizes and two different frame sizes, like apples and oranges trying to judge.

I have a 2019 Action Team 160 a mate of mine has the 2019 140 TM, both 18” frames. The 140 feels much smaller. So, if I was buying a 140 I’d probably go up a frame size. May be an idea to try different frame sizes for same spec, that way you’re comparing apples with apples.
