FOX DHX2 - Your settings

I'm interested in what settings people are running on their DHX2 shocks. right now I have only mounted the shock but have not touched either the LSC or the rebound.


I have a 160mm travel bike with a 60mm stroke shock...running a 450lb spring.


I ride most enduro.

Here's a good start. Start with Fox's recommendations and adjust from there.

Start with Fox base settings.

Then tune with a ShockWizz.

I cannot recommend the ShockWizz enough. I learned so much from it I perfectly set up my other bike without it.

It really helps you understand what to dial in and why

I have used the shock now for about 3 weeks with base settings just to get the feel of the coil.


Hmm a shockwiz is a lot of money and I prefer to tweak my shocks my self but thanks for the tip , maybe someday i buy one to try out👍

a small update, I bottomed out very easy on my local trails.
so I turned on the Spring Preload To decrease sag but I'm still bottoming out and the spring preload is maxed out now.


i have the 450 spring that fox recommended for my weight so i guess i need a 500 spring

As you have discovered the spring preload isn't for that
its just for stopping the spring rattling when unloaded its usually preloaded a couple of turns that's it
All winding it up does is ruins small bump compliance
As you have figured its a bigger poundage spring is what's needed to adjust your sag and stop bottoming out (y)

PS. Buy a sprindex spring there adjustable and saves you buying loads more springs .

its just for stopping the spring rattling when unloaded its usually preloaded a couple of turns that's it
All winding it up does is ruins small bump compliance
As you have figured its a bigger poundage spring is what's needed to adjust your sag and stop bottoming out (y)

hmm maybe i have understand fox guide wrong then, I thought you could adjust the the sag by turning the preload adjuster ?




  1. Measure the eye-to-eye distance of your bike's shock mounts.
  2. With the help of a friend, mount the bike in your normal riding position with your normal riding gear and measure eye-to-eye distance again.
  3. The difference between the two measurements is sag.
    • To increase sag, turn the preload adjuster counter-clockwise. If you cannot achieve 30% sag by turning the preload adjuster, you will need to obtain a lower rate spring.
    • To decrease sag, turn the preload adjuster clockwise no more than two full turns. If you cannot achieve 30% sag by turning the preload adjuster, you will need to obtain a higher rate spring.
    • To change to a higher or lower rate spring, see the Changing Coil Springs section below.

Correct no more than 2 turns
Preloading a spring doesn't increase the spring rate at all as i mentioned all it does is ruins small bump compliance which is what a coil spring is better at over air .

Fox said it in your instructions ,
  • To decrease sag, turn the preload adjuster clockwise no more than two full turns. If you cannot achieve 30% sag by turning the preload adjuster, you will need to obtain a higher rate spring.
