if there are any fork gurus out there I could really use your advice..

I have the 34 rhythm on my bike and i have set it exactly to the rider weight etc as advised on the website but its really, really uncomfortable to ride. Ive had the bars come out of my hand on choppy rocky descents because of the fork and I am getting really tired and aching wrists as a result.

examples of how the fork is on terrain are:

fast long downhill with bedrock shelves that are drop offs of about 2 feet, 6 of them in a row, all landing onto loose large rocks, fork feels bouncy and dead at the same time, check the o'ring at the bottom and its only used 100mm of its travel.

rough fire road, reasonably quick, lots of bumps/stones, small but in quick succession.. fork feels (and looks) as though it isnt moving, it does but only a small amount, lots of shock coming up through the bars etc.

if I drop the pressure its plush and comfy but goes through its travel easily.

compression is open

I probably weight 110kg with all kit

ideally I would buy a fox 36 but its not an option so I need to get this fork working for me :)

after i posted I went and just felt it, took out the one token that was in there, pumped it up a little lower and closed the compression a little.. should be riding tomorrow so ill test it then !

Sounds like you may make it worse dropping the pressure and removing the only token.

the tokens affect the spring rate of the stroke dont they?
I want it more linear and I do want it to react to the smaller bumps as well, will what ive done work or will it just make the rest of the stroke shit? ive not had to deal with air forks before, last set were oil bath and they are a faff but at least I was familiar with them :D

Were there any tokens in the forks when you bought the bike dobby?

Mine feels the similar with lots of vibration on loose stuff

I’m no expert but the way I understand it the token won’t affect the initial small bump movement but are there to ramp up the pressure further into the travel. In this way you can try for initial plushness and stop it blowing through the travel and bottoming out.

yea there was one token only, manual says there should be 2 but ive taken it out and will let you know if it makes any difference at all..

when I first got the bike I didnt touch the fork for a few rides but it was a bit bouncy and when I checked only had about 60psi, so i pumped it up and its been shit since.

mmm, mine had 70, 96 now, but they feel as bad as my stiffy Orange on normal hardpack/loose tracks. My rear shock had no pressure at all.

I thought it was just me being paranoid
