How high can I go on Stem Fork riser on my Levo and still keep the swat tool. Attachwed are the 2 different things Ive been playing around with. The variable one works great and I have no problems there. BUT Id rather use a straight up stem fork riser like the one pictured. I tried. I DID get it to go on but then the stabilizing screw "not sure what that is called" wasnt long enough to meet the nut at the base of the fork. Any ideas?? Am I limited to ONLY the adjustable one which as I say works great but looks dorky. I also have a diety anodized blue triple clamp Id love to use but I cant with the variable stem roser whereas I could with just a straight riser like the one in the pictures attached. I already have 80 mm bars from Diety so I dont need any advice there. I know Im going quite high but Im 60 plus and need the bars up high. Thanks Perhaps to go with straight stem I just need to go shorter my guess?? OR can I get a longer bolt screrw nut set up "The one I dont know what it is called but hold evrything tight. Thanks!! One other thing, With the staight one on I noticed my swat tool was too wide to slide down into the fork tube!!! Are there wider ones? , gotta be right??

If you had bought the Swat tool it would come with different length fixing bolts.
Unfortunately when they're supplied with bikes, they only give you the one length.

[Edit] if you open the PDF manual from here

On the second page it shows the part numbers of the different length stem bolts.
Google the one that suits and you might get lucky.

Can I just find a longer fastening stem and keep the swat tool part?

One more question. Do you know why the swat tool would NOT fit into the fork stem riser. It was too wide. ??

Sorry, you posted while I was editing.
The specialized site has a pdf with the part numbers for the different length stem bolts.

I don't know much about stems tbh. I'm still using the same one that came with my Levo

Hi. I'd check for any warnings from your fork manufacturer. If Fox, 30mm is the max no of spacers they recommend under the stem. Note the top cap doesn't hold everything tight - it preloads the bearings. It's the stem clamping on the steerer that holds it. Top cap bolts are normally 30-35mm.

So IMO, your adjustable stem is the best solution. I wouldn't extend the steerer on an MTB.

Thanks, I really appreciate your input. Its a shame I cant use the blue anodized 31.8 mm diety clamp cuz it looked SO NICE on the bike when I had ONLY the 80 mm bars and no adjustable riser. Maybe the 80 mm bars is enough for mt comfort? What do you think. Is that significant enough to aleviate my arm pump? I AM in good shape Im not in anything close to severe discomfort . I actually ride a dirt bike in the woods as well . I get less arm pump on that than I do the levo

OMG Wowza! Thanks . So correct me if Im wrong. I can buy a longer "Stem only" part of the Swat tool in a loger size reach, yes?? I hope so?? If yes I can lose the adjustable "girly looking" riser I now have and just add a larger fork stem maybe 2 inches and that will work with the longer stwem. Not sure what size comes stock in my bike but I can go measure. ????

You think its safe to get the longest one they offer?? I mean if they are offering it it should be safe?? On the turbo levo?

Are you really trying - in effect - to extend the length (height) of the fork steerer tube in order to facilitate a higher handlebar?

That's seriously dangerous. The only thing you should ever be clamping a handlebar stem to is the fork steerer tube. Trying to extend it this way could get you killed.

I note that you're 60+, but many of us are: I sincerely recommend that either you find a way to deal with your back discomfort while keeping the bike within its intended design limitations; or you find a bike better suited to the position you feel you want to ride in, because what you seem to be trying is a Bad With A Capital B idea..

Yah, Thanks to input like yours I'm going to go back to JUST the 80 mm bars, that's it. HOWEVER When I go on LONG weekend street rides 40 miles day with the wifey often times I put the riser on. What do you think? Tx! That be o.k.??
