Looks like supplier was smart enough to order a few spare motors just in case. They have one in stock!. Emailed last night and bike already in shop dropped it off this afternoon), assessed and approved for new motor on priority replacement. Might be done by weekend!

So, shout out to Pushy's in Oz for excellent backup and customer service....

Update:

It seems Forestal haven't seen this issue much, if ever. They asked me to ride the bike for 100km to see if the motor stopped clicking or if the noise changed. Pushy's, the local supplier, has gone further. A whole new bike is on its way and they are going to ride my bike for a while to see what happens. They'll do the 100 or so kms and see what happens before pulling the motor for examination. Looks like, between them they want this motor as a test mule to see what's going on.

New bike day again late this week....

I've been talking to Forestal again today.

I wanted to know, what's the status about all the faults.
Paint falling off, issues with the dashboard, some dashboard functions not working, some other issues and the trouble with the motor.
Reply: all has been fixed (and the problem with motor is a single unit)

I've configured a Cyon to be delived, and the site says delivery: march 2022.
Hmmm...asked about this.
Reply: all delivery is normal (3-4 weeks).
The supported actually is riding a Cyon her self.

I've told them, that Rob is here and will review it.
It will give massive product visiability.
Reply: none yet, they are closed today :)

A video review of the bike.

Enthusiastic review with a few silly errors.

The battery is 350 watt not 320.

It doesn’t pull like an EP8. Not close. I know because I rode mine next to an EP8 bike. It’s close to trail (but not quite). Basically in the middle of my eZesty and Shimano bikes.

That motor is mine and I believe that they haven’t seen this before. They were genuinely shocked when I sent them a video of the noise.

Finish on my bike is perfect, so far. Display works perfectly but some of the functions of the app are yet to be introduced.

The missing functions on the display is taken care of by a disclamer - in very small text font :)

I've also asked about, if the user will be able to modify the individual power settings pr mode.
They are actually working on this, and it will be available via an later update (no timeframe).

My original siryon had the electrical sounding crackling coming from it last October, after a few rides it disappeared, then battery and motor died not long after Christmas, they took the bike back gave me new frame, battery and motor although no way of telling if it had just been resprayed and other bits just reset, since the new one returned it’s been losing 10% of battery within 100m of riding no Elavation
And the screen keeps flickering between all the screens which is still a lot better than the original bike which was a completely blank screen most the time, they’ve asked me to return it again. Does anyone else’s pivot move with a hand slightly lifting under the seat as I don’t remember this on my original one? Has anyone had a completely sound bike with no problems yet?

These are now available in the USA but it's a bad moment for me as I'm in the process of buying/ selling a home but also because I want to give them 6 months to work out the bugs.

Will be following this thread however!

How is power delivery on the Siryon? If you quit pedaling and then restart, is it real smooth or jerky?

Technical climbing, does it feel like a bike? or does it jerk?

Does it pedal freely if you cross over the max assistance speed or do you still feel resistance?

Is it true that if you take off with no power at all it has literally no pedaling resistance?

I really want a low power e-bike that feels as natural as a bike under all conditions. This is very important to me.

Thanks.

PS. There is a Utube channel called SamsBikes and he rode the Siryon a full 10 months ago and stated that the power delivery was a bit jerky. Hoping this has been corrected maybe through programming?

Depends on the power level. Smooth for the first two. Like a normal eBike for the top two power levels. Wouldn't describe it as jerky.

Technical climbing, does it feel like a bike? or does it jerk?

Feels like a bike. Just more. Top power level has some real grunt. Much more than my ezesty.

Does it pedal freely if you cross over the max assistance speed or do you still feel resistance?

Crossover is smooth.

Is it true that if you take off with no power at all it has literally no pedaling resistance?

probably a couple of watts but not significant. Same as my Fazua bike. Better than my EP8 and Levo.

Get the Trek Exe. This feels like a light eBike. Like exactly half way between no motor and my Levo. Plus it's 19kg with pedals. Never going to feel like a 14-15kg enduro bike. It is fantastic on the trail though. Really really good.

Thanks.

Hope this helps

Gordon, thanks so much for the input. It's really nice to get opinions from someone that has owned so many of the bikes!

Anything you don't like about your Siryon?

Buying the Siryon in the states, cost about 30% more than if Forestal would just sell it to me direct. Stateside support is important but at that cost difference they could include a spare motor & battery! That said, the Siryon is leading the pack for me right now. To be fair to the US distributor I think they ordered the lot before the exchange rate swung wildly in our favor and there are a couple of other personal reasons I'm waiting as well.

I too think the Trek Exe is probably the best e-bike motor and bike overall. However the terrain I want to use this bike on is considerably too gnarly for a 140/ 150 travel bike (Enduro & DH terrain), at least at my skill level.

Anyone want to sell their Large Siryon and ship to the states? Preferably frame only but complete is fine too.

The lightweight, Enduro capable e-bikes that I am considering that will be available in the states are the Siryon (would prefer the new Performance model without the computer), the New Transition Relay & the yet to be released Levo SL as I adore my current SJ Evo and the e-bike will be a direct replacement for that bike.

Can I ask what size droppers everyone is able to run on their L Siryons along with other data? I noticed the seat tube is a bit tall, however the BB is also a bit higher (thankfully) and so that I guess offsets the longer seat tube. Not certain really.

Siryon has been a on my short list for a while. Most things I've seen/read I like, most of all enduro travel in a light format. I like that if tomorrow I want to buy I can now in the USA.

Things that put me off:
Screen glitch
No flip chip, i.e. no mullet unless you can live with super slack HTA--offset bushings not designed to steepen HTA
Reported high BB, not sure if this would be a deal breaker for me but am used to Levo SL mullet, Levo Gen3
Service questions in USA even with WW Cyclery as dealer now
Price--but you have to pay to play so this could be overcome

Anyone got some input on this?

All I can mention is the BB height: I'm GLAD it's higher than what is typical these days.

My '21 SJ Evo at -37 is just flat too low on a 150mm travel

The Siryon at -25 is what I'd consider ideal. Keep in mind that at 170mm travel and 30% sag the Siryon is only going to be 8mm higher (12 x .7) BB height than the SJ Evo which frankly sounds perfect to me.

I believe that Cedric really nailed the geo on the Size L Siryon and it's one of the primary draws of the bike for me.

They need to get rid of that stupid computer, and just make it a mobile phone holder or something with a charging cord for your phone and then a phone app & maybe a really small LED battery power indicator.

I did watch a Cyon review on this very forum and the motor noise was quite off putting.

PS. I just received a Mullet linkage from the guys in Williams Brothers Racing to test if I prefer my SJ as a Mullet. If I do, I'll probably almost certainly go with the Transition Relay since they are already advertising Mullet capability.

Basically I need the Siryon geo, with the TQ HPR motor, and the Transition adjustability and reliability!

Be interesting if any one has ridden one of these against the Kenevo SL I’ve had a couple of KSLs fantastic bikes had a few full fatties and currently also have a Kenevo fattie but just love the KSL. Tried a Orbea rise but didn’t like it much. So looking at this bike as it has more power on paper but does it perform as well as the KSL.

The most planted, and capable of any trail bike I’ve ever rode, makes specialized look silly, still haven’t seen another one on the trails yet, nice to have a rare bike

why does it make specialized look silly? That's kind of a nondescript comparison. Has the screen on yours not glitched out as others have reported? I'm curious because that is kind of a big deal on an ebike. No chance to run mixed wheel size, i.e. nothing on frame to allow small geometry adjustments? Those couple of things have kind of pushed Forestal off my radar but as one of very few 170/170 SL bikes on the market, it's almost what I really want and don't have to wait for.

So in other words just take your word for it since your two mates prefer Siryon too? Lol.

Still the unanswered question for me is, is there anything to put geometry as should be if I want mixed wheel size? I'm guessing no, just haven't had time to make a phone call to dealer to ask. Getting a test ride on a Forestal, yea that would be nice but ain't happening where I live. Right now with screen glitches and no flexibility on wheel size, $10K+ is risky at best for me.

I haven't had a Kenevo SL next to my Siryon but I have next to my eZesty. The eZesty had more power than the Levo SL and my Siryon is more powerful again. I've ridden it next to an EP8 and been OK. Couldn't do that with the eZesty or Specialized.

Ride is personal but I like the Siryon, a lot.

The Levo SL is nothing like the Kenevo SL worlds apart wouldn’t touch a Levo SL after having one on loan from bike shop for a few days. Also had the Orbea rise on loan for a week OK bike but nothing like the ride of the KSL just buying my 3rd KSL

Today the mail man (massive one) arrived at my doorstep with my renewed friend the Siryon. This summer, while on vacation, I revisited the Forestal Factory and asked what they could do with the paint (I had a few chips, my own fault from the bike park). No questions asked, but what I want, so I went full out I guess. See attached first picture.
Needless to say, the customer service is unrivaled.

90% sure I'm going with the Siryon in the Spring.

Sure I wish the motor was dead quiet like the TQ HPR8, but you can't have everything.

I got to ride a Syrion earlier this week. Sadly, due to injury, I didn't get to go nuts on the kind of trails I wanted, but I did get to have a decent test of motor and battery. The motor does make a noise, but definitely not as noisy as my Levo SL. It's probably a touch noisier than a well used Shimano E7000, if I'm trying to find a similar sound on other bikes I've ridden. The range is definitely comparable to the Levo SL, though I would very much like the ability to tune the settings for myself, which I think would improve range even further. The range extender would allow for real all-day epics, no question. It is sometimes hard to know if you have actually pushed a button on the remote, as there is no feedback at all, so you need to be keeping an eye on the screen or the LEDs on the controller. There is very clearly more power than the SL motor on the Spesh, but I like that you have 4 settings to choose from, rather than 3, as it just feels that you can dial in to the level of support you want more easily. Riding above the limiter, or without support, is just like... riding a bike actually! There's no feeling of drag or sensation of pulling weight, it's the most seamless transition on any ebike I've ridden (and I've ridden a lot in the last 6 years!). My screen worked without fault, though the first ride was done with the screen displaying a system fault for the whole ride (even though the bike rode just fine and there didn't actually appear to be any fault). Once it was cleared, it worked exactly as advertised.

What's the latest on the Forestal front?

Reliability, battery life, paint quality and the computer working...?

Are these units selling well, or not?

Forestal has 2 major updates:
1) Their Performance line will be available this April, without the computer but otherwise identical. This will reduce cost and weight.
2) They are selling frame sets only now.
