For SRAM t-type chain installation, will a regular chain breaker tool will work?

Installation guide says a “flat top“ chain breaker tool is needed. Anyone know if a regular chain breaker tool will work?

Yes and No.

Not all Chain Wear and Chain Breakers will work. SRAM made small list from the ones that work. And yes there are more than those on the list ;-)

When you search for a tool it has to be compatible with "Flattop Chains" With Google you find some extra/other options that are not in the list from above.

I did mine with a one up edc one mate, as my old school it wouldn't fit

so, the one up EDC chain breaker does work with the new T-Type chain? I don't want to find out the hard way, when I am 20 miles from a trailhead.

Not sure if that includes T-Type/Transmission, it is 12 speed also.

Yes the tools on the list will also work with 12sp. This what two ppl from SRAM told me. Some tools I tested my self like the Park Tool chain breaker 3.3

I just used the chain tool I already had as I figured it was nonsense.

How do you know if it "hasn't worked"?

The chain is on there...
