Hi All, probably missed this in the threads here. Has anyone used cushcore or Nukeproof ARD on Kenevo with the standard 38mm roval rims?

I considered using them on my kenevo but decided to go for tyres with thicker sidewall instead.
Ditched the 2.8 butchers and put on 2.6 eliminator black diamond which transformed the bike. The black diamond tyres are far more suited to ebike application.

I put Cush cores and maxis dhr rear/assagai front but on 32inner praxis rims. So much better than the stock gear.
Got some black diamond eliminators to try next.
I do miss the old 2.8s though as they were more forgiving on my spine.

Thanks guys. I've already put some 2.6 Maxxis DHFs amd they have made a huge difference. The maxxis' hold to corners at speed so much better than the Specializeds' ones did. A mate mentioned he really liked cushcores and I was wondering if anyone had used the Nukeproof ARDs? They're half the price and seem to review well.

Which company did you got for?

My friend and I are struggling witht eh 2.8 butchers folding on berms and fast corners..

Its either have them fold over on the corners or inflate so high that you have no grip.. Cant seem to win with them?

Howdy. I'm probably going to go for the cushcores, I think I read somewhere that Nukeproof ARD only work with up to 35mm rims & and the standard roval is 38mm. Cushcores have a plus tyre that works on 38mm rims and 3.6" and great width tyres.

Any DH tyre with decent sidewalls will be an improvement n the Butchers. I think Specialized named them butchers because that is what they do the performance of the bike.

This is the exact issue I had with the 2.8 butchers. They are useless on a 25kg ebike, cannot support the weight unless you run them at 40psi and then you have no grip or the tyre blows off the rim (happened to me twice. Bloody scary!)
Grab the black diamond casing 2.6” eliminator and you won’t look back.

I went with Cushcores and think they are great. Not hard to fit (if you follow their instructions), don’t notice the weight on an eMTB, enable low pressures, and peace of mind. No brainer for me.

I put some Rimpact inserts on my Levo. 2.5 Maxxis EXO WT High Roller II up front and Aggressor in back on stock 38mm inner Roval wheels. $60 US with longer valves shipped. Lighter than Cushcore and so far pretty cool. They add another layer of dampening and help protect sidewall although I've still managed to jack a sidewall up but the trail had some really big rocks so....

I also am riding Rimpact - on 2.6 Maxxis DHF/DHR2 Exo+ and now 2.6 BLCK DMND Eliminator on Santa Cruz Reserve 37 on my Kenevo. My observations:

Prior to Rimpact, I was pinch flatting and puncturing tires quite a lot, even with thicker casings. I tend to ride pressures 18-22psi front/ 22-25 psi rear with the 2.6 volume tires. My trails are mostly rocky, loose, dry, and I have always had issues flatting regardless of bike.

Since Rimpact - I have had 1x flat, which was a bigger puncture in the rear that I ended up using tire bacon for about 300+ more miles. I have had rimpact ~ 600 miles. So -for flat protection, it's been much better. I still feel that the exo+, double down, blck dmnd casings , etc are of benefit in at least the rear. Even with "just" exo casings, I bet that flats would go way down.

In terms of ride quality - it's more subtle than anything, but I can run a few PSIs lower without worry. The kenevo is already plush , but I do believe there is a bit of a damping effect. Cornering support is also a bit better, but I think that the sidewall support would be better with narrower rims as I am on the edge with the 37mm internal width.

Weight increase is not noticeable (but it's an ebike..).

Overall - it's totally worth it for not much of a penalty. Finally, I am wearing out tires tread vs. replacing due to punctures.

Been using the Nukeproof ARD on my Vitus esommet which has current Eddy Tyres on it, ARD insert in rear only as very rarely do you ding the front. Must say the Nukeproof ARD has been great on hard rocky trails which I know I can ding rims easily on... and contrary to opinion getting them out is not a problem if you use plenty of soapy water to push in tyre close to rim to break the bead, done it a few times with the Currenty Eddy tyre which is one of the toughest tyres around even to fit. So yes would highly recommend the Nukeproof ARD... half the cost of Cushcore.?
