Fitting a 500w battery in a 625w space

Just what it says really. Has anyone actually fitted the 500w battery in a Rail 625w battery space.

I know what's required just interested if anyone has done this not merely considered it. Any problems or not?

Reason: Once things get a bit better contemplating long outings without recharge facilities and without having to use ☠☠ECO☠☠ all day.

Well I got mistakenly a 500Wh battery in my Rail 5. The LBS sent me the correct 625Wh and it took me about 15min and one torx driver to change it.

Did I understood correctly that you would like to ride longer and change to lower capacity battery? I think the logic doesn't work that way. You will reach longer with your 625Wh as the added weight adds more range than uses it. This was discussed somewhere else here in the forum.

Thanks. The thought is that I use the 625 initially and then the 500 after the 625 expires. It’s really a weight thing. If I’m carrying a lot of “distance” gear then any weight saving would be beneficial.?

You should use the 500 first in that case. Then you will be carrying the lighter battery when your tired. I assume you will be carrying the battery on your back. If carrying the battery attached to the bike somehow it will make no difference.

Intention is battery in rucksac. I've tried this with a pals battery and while not fantastic it is liveable with. Can't see any possibility of attaching a spare battery to the frame. Second intention is to go as far as possible on the first day. ⛰?So 625 battery for that. Second day would hopefully leave a shorter journey so 500 for that.

At the moment two days would seem to be possible but longer than that would entail a visit to civilisation.?

Rail battery is a 625. Powerfly is a 500, both have been swapped and work fine.
I had thought from my copious researches ??that the 500w would fit with only the addition of the extender(
Trek Allant+/Diamant Zouma+ Battery Spacer) but couldn't find anyone anywhere who had actually done the deed so thanks for that.
One further question.......any difficulties fitting the cover? Assume that buying the cover includes the relevant fittings.
