So I'm shopping for my first eMTB and I've bounced around between a few different platforms after watching hundreds of hours of YouTube videos, including most of Rob's vids. I've read a ton of reviews. I'm located in Dallas, Texas so Specialized and Trek are the most popular and best supported brands in the area. Budget is a big concern. I'm aiming to invest under $5,000 including tax, which is 8.25%. I want the specs and features of a $6,000 to $7,000 bike, but have a $5,000 budget. There aren't many or any used eBikes for sale in my area in my size. Here is my wish list in order of what I want. I primarily ride on mellow trails without much elevation change or big climbs. I may venture out to Arkansas at some point where there is more uphill/downhill down the road. Please chime in with your advice.
1. 2020 Specialized Levo Comp (or standard): $6,000
- Great local support, best seller based on what I can tell.
2: 2019 YT Decoy CF Base: $4,200
- More downhill oriented based on many reviews, but the price is hard to beat. Lower local support.
3. Trek Rail 7 (or 5): $6,000
- I like Trek and own Trek non-E bikes now.
4. Giant Stance E+ standard or Pro 2: $3,700 to $4,200
- Limited local support. Great price and likely plenty of travel for local trails. Motor case protrudes down low. Seems like a questionable design.
I appreciate your help. These are my hard earned dollars going to a hobby. I pray that I will ride it enough to justify the cost. Texas weather is very unpredictable and trails are regularly closed due to wet weather.
