Anyone able to tell me what the latest firmware update, I think it's 4.7.0. is supposed to do?

I'm on 4.6.1 and have no issues with the EN-EW100 or e7000 control units with my e8000 motor.

You might have the terms confused.
"E8000" is just the series, like "XT" or "SLX".
"DU-E8080" specifies the actual model number of the Drive Unit.

A majority of the e-MTBs that have the STEPS E8000 use the drive unit with the model number "DU-E8000"... but there is also a "DU-E8080" drive unit for certain locales. The only difference is that the DU-E8080 doesn't have a 20mph limit option in the stock settings.

People on this forum have been using terms like E800 motor, E7000 controller, E7000 display on a pretty regular basis. It's pretty clear what they refer too.

Eco mode assist level can be customized just like in Trail and Boost and the speedometer can be calibrated.

And? People on this forum use the word "acoustic" to describe their non E-MTBs too... and it's also wrong LOL

The firmware update specifically mentions "DU-E8080" - not just "E8000" or "E8000 motor." That's because the DU-E8080 wasn't compatible with the SC-E6100/SC-E7000/EW-EN100 until now, whereas the DU-E8000 was already compatible since firmware 4.5.1. This is why some people on this forum had no problems with the parts combos above and some people did - because those people assumed that all "E8000 motors" were the same, when they are not.

At least the E8000 series only has 2 drive unit models. The E6000 series has like... 9 different drive units.
