Fazua motor pedaling resistance?

I recently got a new motor and each time I start pedaling I feel a momentary wall of resistance that I need to overcome before the motor starts turning freely. I didn't notice this behavior in the previous motor. In the video listen for the higher pitched whirring sound each time the crank starts turning. Does your bike do this too?

Edit: the power is ON in the video. That sound and resistance "like an electric drill when you turn it by hand" is not there when I pedal with the motor OFF. Thanks.

Have you submitted a ticket to Fazua? I’ll try to get an equivalent video from mine this afternoon for you to reference.

True that brake rotor.

It's a brand new motor from Fazua. If mine is the only one that behaves that way I'll take it back to the shop.

And thanks for filming yours later.

New is still worth a ticket to them with the video imo, you can do this without a trip to the shop. Just fill out the warranty form on the web.

Thanks. I sent them a message. The upload limit is only 20mb so I had to send a very short version of the video. Hopefully it’s enough for whoever sees it. I appreciate your input.

I take it yours isn’t behaving similarly?

Don't think so, mine seems quite a bit quieter too (although hard to know given other sounds, different cameras etc...)

FWIW I've shared YouTube links with Fazua to deal with that small media size limit.

I removed the brake caliper so there wouldn’t be any rotor noise and filmed again:

Tough to tell whether anything is wrong by watching unfortunately, at least for me. The "wall" moment doesn't really come across. Can you annotate the video perhaps to make it clear where you're feeling the resistance you have to overcome?

In any case my take is to trust the fact that you know what a good one should feel like and this one feels off, and proceed with the warranty process.

I wasn't sure if I was feeling it or not, as if maybe it was always like that but I just hadn't noticed. However, after your video and someone else's on Facebook I can see that mine is definitely behaving weird.

There could be a small resistance per motor design but it should be very light. You can think also that there is a resistance where there is none because after a few seconds the motor give assistance which put the crank at higher speed.

For example I have this semi-feeling on turbo when starting to climb from stop, you can feel the little boost.

Does it occurs in all gears?

That said, your wheel does not look true at all, and same as other true that brake which could be also why you feel resistance in the first place.

That’s not it. The wheel is brand new and very true.. What you’re seeing is the tire. Also, I removed the caliper to make sure there was no possible contribution from rotor rub and the same issue was happening. I dropped the bike off at the bike shop, they did a diagnostic, and said that everything is normal. It happens in all gears. My plan is to keep riding it and if it bursts into flames then maybe I’ll get a new-new motor.
