So got hold of a 800 pack to upgrade my 2021 Trance from the 625. Just showing a few differences for anyone thinking of going down the same route. Weight difference is just over 300 grams, so not bad considering it’s the same size, well almost. You can see from the pics that the 800 has a raised rounded profile compared to the flat 625. I was told by Giant uk I could use my original cover, but this turned out not to be the case because of the profile. I have modified the cover to fit by removing the ribbing and it fits ok but im not happy with a gap by the latch which wasn’t there on the 625, so I’ve ordered the updated cover to go with the battery. I’ll be test riding when the snow buggers off, hopefully after the weekend, so I’ll update after that. Also I’ll be selling my 625 if anyone’s interested 😉

Hi, can you confirm that other than the cover it is a straight swap with no battery holder/latches repositioning?

I am really interested in getting a Reign with the 800Wh battery, and my wife currently has a liv amiti (effectively a giant explore). The newer version of her bike has the 625Wh smart pack, so I'm really tempted to try to get a deal on buying both bikes together and having her 625Wh available the handful of times a year I plan on doing huge days out.

Hi, I will be making a small adjustment to the latch as the 800 seems to be a slightly tighter fit than the 625, but we are talking small. It did fit straight in but was tight to remove, no biggie

Yes, it is easy as this.
I'm using a 800Wh, 750Wh an a 625Wh in my 2022 Reign and its just a simple swap. No other cover, adjustments or whatsoever.

Fair enough.
Just for the record: I do not even have to do this and rotate four batteries with two bikes without any adjustment needed.

Great thanks for the answer. I'm on a shimano system now, but same story: my 4 year old battery is a slight bit loose, but my newer ones are a tight fit.

Hi All!

Did anybody try the other direction? -> the "new" 800wh battery cover use with 625 battery?

My bike is a MY21 Trance X E+ with 625 wh battery.

I've bought another 625 battery for a hot swap during riding. So I have to buy another battery cover.

The question is the "new" 800wh battery cover fits to my 625 battery or I have to buy the "old" 625 cover?
Because the new 800 cover is much easier to order.

The opposite direction is not compatible (800wh battery with 625 cover), that's why the question arosed in me.
So the 800 cover is compatible with 625 battery?

Thanks and Regards,
Balazs

Hi, the 800 cover will fit onto the 625 but there will be a gap because of the battery profile. Have a look at the pics in the first post showing the difference in the batteries. I don’t think this will affect the security of the battery but the cover may rattle because if the gap 🤔

Thanx for the fast reply!

Do you have info about that the 800 cover comes with the same "rubber rail" which is between the cover and the battery?

I think if the "locking system" is the same in the 800 cover (I did not find any picture which show the inner side of the 800 cover) it fits to the 625 battery and the lack of the 625 profile is not important, because the cover and the battery connected with the rubber rail and the locking screw in the end of the battery. Am I right?

Hi, yes the cover comes with all the rubber gaskets in your pick and also the lower section 👍
