E Bike hitch trailer battery in or out?

I'm wondering is it ok to leave the battery in the bike while it's on the hitch and going somewhere? Right now I have been taking it out but can't find a good answer for this anywhere. I'm assuming the companies thought of this and it can handle it.

On my bike, if you take the battery out, the connections are exposed. So, when we trailer them (bike rack on a tow bar), we leave them in but lock them (you can lock the battery to the bike).

I did ask Decathlon if they made covers for the connections, but apparently not. Business opportunity for someone?
