Downgrading my Rise

Just musing....
So I've added a DT Swiss wheels, a Yari 160mm fork and a deluxe shock, 203mm rotors and about to pop a set of Magura MT5's on there. The bike is certainly 'better', but not sure I like it as much as before I started all this nonsense! Thinking about putting it all back to stock

What was your Rise when you started out? Which Yari is it? The RC is poor until you upgrade the damper! I am running a Novy Splug on mine so now better than Lyrik Ultimate
I am running MT5s on my Rise & love them, I bought the M20 then Fully customised it!!

Just a bottom of the line H30, bought it because I had a few 'bits' that I could put to good use :). It's the RCB3 so has the debonair air spring, not the solo one, I have them on other bikes so I'm used to them, for the trails I do it's perfect, thought about doing the damper upgrade, but for me I don't think it's worth it.

Stock, it was a great trail bike, now it's just trying to be an AllMtn, but isn't quite. I have a Haibike ALLMTN incoming so putting it back to stock means I at leat have two different bikes, by 'improving" it, I've taken away some of its character. Here it is, in the lounge, getting a polish :)

To be honest, Marzocchi Z2 is better fork than stock Yari (damper). So I dont think that ever was upgrade. It made bike heavier with worse front end.

I really don’t get Yari bashing. Been using them for years, they are a great fork as long as you’re within the limits of what it’ll soak up. IMO much better than the Z2

It depends of course where and how you ride but in my experience, it takes first edge fine but it's so slow to react that it hits you back if the there is repetition, which then leads to sore hands and out of control feeling. The upgrades available will make it actually good fork and are fairly cheap + easy to do.

Related to topic, what do you think is wrong with the bike using this setup? I don't think its wheels and only other things you have swapped are the suspension components. Longer fork for changes the geo but at least for me it has been the biggest positive change in Rise - ha is one degree slacker (in H30 model).

Don't ride anything other than fairly smooth trails with a few small jumps and the odd root, certainly nothing rough! There's nothing wrong with the bike, it certainly feels better to ride than it was stock and it wants to be the money I've spent on it :). It's just a feeling I've turned a cheap/fun little trail bike into an almost AllMtn bike, and was it all worth the bother! I'll stick the Maguras on it at the weekend :)

I kind wanted to do exactly above and I'm very happy about it. It rides well with longer fork/ha + It's reasonably light, agile and poppy (it feels energetic vs plush). Finally you can configure it to run full power (500w/85nm). So at the end of the day you have lightweight full power engaging bike with good value. Ok, it won't manage huge jump/drops but even medium ones are ok.

Very tempted to downgrade the FW and go for the full 85Nm, but then that's the warranty out of the window :(

A Yari with an aftermarket tune from the likes of Fast Suspension with the Yari Up or Novy Splug makes for an amazing performance fork better than Z2 or Lyrik Ultimate & have owned both aftermarket tunes along with Ohlins & my fork on my Rise the Manitou Mezzer which out performs most forks out there!! The Yari is on my Mega

Just read that STUnlocker can modify the Torque to 85Nm without downgrading the firmware, do you know if that's correct? I know the motor creates a log for region and wheel size changes, not sure if it would log this? If not that may be worth a try!

I don’t really want to encourage anyone to do it since there is no real facts if can be spotted or not. Anyways, at your own risk, you don’t need downgrade (or paid license) and you can also revert it back if needed. Just take backups before doing any changes.

You need to also change watts to 500w for that setting. Otherwise it cannot output those 85nms.

I've just tried it!! Set the power/torq level on trail to the same as I used to have on boost, i.e. 60Nm, and set boost to 85Nm/500W......Wow, the best 80p I ever spent :) Assured by the developer that Torque/power setting changes are not logged, and region/wheel size are only logged if done via a PCI interface apparently, not that I'm changing any of these.

Love my Rise all over again
