Noticed over last few rides the excess cable that comes out of the derailleur has been shedding!! now theres nothing left, this is on Sram GX eagle, whats going on???? never had this happen on any bike. Meant to be off to the peak district tomoz, should i risk it or get a new cable, not done one in ages though. Still all works ok and everythings tight.

As long as the cable is still tightened on the derailleur..I would personally risk it ..the spare cable is just that ..spare .
Buy one to take as a spare ..just in case ..then change when you get back ..
Livin on the edge ..?

Go for an AXS upgrade...
You'll never need to worry about cables again ?

Just went in my LBS for a cable, he said "what you doing running cables, i have some GX AXS kits in stock", loved Di2 on my other ebike, this one can wait though, just for a short while!!

trouble is i think the issue was they hadn't put the cable in the slotted retaining washer and done it up to tight, so this time i just changed it, 5 min job and a couple of quid so no biggie.

Those tiny wires are lethal. The end of the wire cable should have a soft alloy cap squeezed on it to stop you spiking yourself. (And to stop fraying).

How the hell does that happen? It must have received a hell of a bang. I can now see your concern. I would not trust it and as you have done, I would change the wire asap.
dont think it was installed correctly, not in the channel. works a treat now and fingers crossed no more problems. Handled Cutgate pass a charm today ;)
