I ordered the XL, 510mm in reach. HA is 66 degree but I will run bigger fork and mullet, so likely end up around 64.5 ish.

The frame is from Dengfu. They even supply full leverage curve, anti squat, pedal kickback etc graphs and figures! No idea of accuracy, but at least they are included

Frame is called the Dengfu E10 and here is the link. For some reason its labelled as E11 on the charts, but the Dengfu E10 is the actual product.

WHY?

I want to build a full carbon 170 / 150mm travel ebike for under £4k. I’m also super curious how it’ll perform against the big dogs.

It’ll have a RockShox Zeb, Super Deluxe ultimate, DT Swiss H1700 wheelset.

COSTS:

The frame set, battery and motor costs, including U.K. Shipping and duties had a total cost £1,694.44

Current total build cost, even including tyre sealant is £3888.55. This could further be reduced by ‘downgrading’ fork to a Lyrik, the Shock to a Select, and the wheelset to a H1900 set from DT Swiss. With that kind of setup it’ll be around £3400.

You’ll need some shock hardware. The size is as follows

16.5mm x 8mm linkage
32mm x 8mm frame mount

I got mine from @Offset

you can find it here - Shock Bushings | Dengfu E10 Bafang

www.offsetbushings.com
£24

Sure. I’ll take a pic with it installed. I have a 210x55 RockShox Super Deluxe. I’ll measure actual rear wheel travel when it’s installed.

I also will run 27.5 rear 29 front.

27.5 rear and 29 front will modified a lot angles. 27.5 have 710 cm diameter and 29 750. it is the raison why i want rise a few the rear.

have you tools for crank plate ? i found it here
Bafang BBS axle tool locking ring nut second ring | Accessories | FasterBikes - Bafang / CYC Motorshop for your bike

i found also cranks arms (for M420), i have shortened it to make 154 length arms (not really know if necessary ? but i have nothing more to buid)

i see in charcteristic that BB height is 324mm. I hope it is with 27.5 wheel ? that is too short for my use, I need 350mm at least with 165 cranks arms length and 150mm travel. Using shortened arms will be necessary (alike LUNAX1 it's seem)

hi rob. mine is assembled, i just waiting rear brake hose to test it. I am impressed by the quality of the frame, all adjusts perfectely. however i needed to increase length of wire of remote and the power supply, too short. another recomandations, rear hydraulic hose and derailleur pass through the hole behind the lower swing arm. I will test before with 2x29" . With the 315x60 rear shock i have 163mm travel and i have mounted 160 fork, that gave 360mm of bb hight. i test 27.5 more later

I measured the BB height. It’s pretty high at 355mm (ish, was a quick measure). Head angle of just under 64 degrees. 170 fork obviously had an impact here.

I might try some offset bushings to lower it a bit.

Feels LONG. 510mm reach is quoted. Not measured yet but it feels about right.

Chainstay is 455mm

Is the frame designed to be run with a 27. 5 rear wheel? I presume so, as the bb would be ridiculously high with a 29 wheel in there. Or is it supposed to be a pure 27.5 wheeled bike? The current high bb would make sense if the bike was designed as a 27.5 bike, but you've put a 29 wheel on the front.

I'd be tempted to put a 27.5 wheel on the front but keeping the same fork, I prefer 27.5 anyway.
Its prob designed around a 150 fork and 27.5. I have totally butchered it.

I'm going to try a single offset bushing, that'll reduce the BB height by 5mm (so it'll be 343mm, for comparison, the Santa Cruz Bullit is 349mm BB height). It'll also slacken the HA to around 63.3 degree (not that I want that, but a side effect of offset bushing).

Obviously a 155/170 travel bike weighted with rider sag will have bigger sag drop (proportionally) than a shorter travel bike, so I think BB height not going to be too far off when loaded with rider.

@patdam did you try the bike with both mullet and 29?

also the cable for the mode selection switch seems to be quite short. Mine is only 300mm - meaning I have to run the control quite far away from hands

I have tried in 29 and the bike working so wel, that i think i will stay with it, if i install 27.5 rear, i will reduce forks angle, lower BB, Not the right direction for me. The only problem is in short corner, it is the only point where dengfu is less efficient than spectral on (my other bike). The only solution for me could be reduce arms lengtht.

About remote wire, alike power supply wire, i does increase the legth, they are to short.

Today in classic ride with my friends (1400 D+ 40 km), where i return with +- 30% of battery with shimano, with dengfu i have 75%, without noise, with a lot of control and trust on the bike, less tired. I appreciate a lot this bike

for the moment i have mounted an RP2 air in 215x60 to try "light" (23 kg), after i will ride with the van spring shock visible in upper pics. i have reduced a few the width of yoke (i have purchased one more in prevision)
Hi Patdam, would you confirm the size of the shox you are mounting in the bike???? I can't find this size in the metric models...

On mine i have mounted 215x60, for that i have reduced a few the width of yoke (part in front of the seat tube). That give 163 mm rear travel. Initially it is for mount 27.5 rear. But ihave tried in first with 2 x 29". for that i have mounted fork with 160 and i will keep that for the moment. it is also easy to mount 216x63 with same modification, i will done if i find one cheap.

Hi, I like your idea, I pretend to do the same when my frame arrives, it is easier to find 216x63 than the 215x60. You have the suntour triair for less than 300€ and it would match with your fork perfectly. :) in fact that is my i.dea, 29" 27.5" Durolux 17cm front triair 216x63 rear...
i do not know your frame size, but mine in XL have 1300 for wheelbase with 160 travel. it is the reason why do not want 170 (easy to adjust on durolux). i will try 27.5 if i find 216, but keep 160 in front

no experience for bike, old bad experience in moto => never more. May be big discount would mean bad sale ? in addition i think it is better to use fork with less offset than 51.

For 216x63, please wait tomorrow before ordering something. I will check, when i have controled space available full compressed with 215x60, i have seen large space between tire (29") and frame. But when i see pics of rob bike (210x55 and 27.5 rear) compresed, i see few space ? i will control tomorrow

Yes, it fits well and gives about 150mm of travel at the rear on 27.5 " wheels. I have mine on 27.5 x 2.8" both back and front ( i'm not so tall at 1.8m ) and on the M frame the BB centre is 325mm. You may want to check with a 29er wheel as I do not have a rear 29er here to check ( I normally run mullet style but believe a suspension should be balanced with equal or slightly more travel at the front which on the 29er would be too tall a bike for my likings ).

Hi, did you check allready the whole battery autonomy??
I'm 1.8m too and I was very undecided between M & L finally I decided M too.

Thought I had better check, but with the 200 mm length ( mines an older Fox 5.0 air ) x 57mm travel, the gap between the rear cross piece on the top stay and the seat tube is 60mm at full extension, on mine.

I really would doubt that there would be any conflict with a 29er wheel as it would hit that cross piece before the seat stay ( I'll take a piccie later )
