Hello All,
I have experienced an odd failure within my 720w Darfon battery. The battery comes from a SC Heckler 2023 model. During a couple of rides, I have had the power randomly turn off. Initial thoughts was, a loose wire or break in the battery interface. The bike then gave me no issues for a while, completing plenty of long enduro type rides.
One evening the bike just didn't want to turn on! I plugged in the charger and an orange flashing light appeared on the charging unit. I checked the connections for dirt and moisture and as a precaution, left everything to air out over night in a warm garage. On returning in the morning I placed everything back on the bike and still, nothing! I took the battery back off and checked the press to test button on the battery and nothing illuminated. I cleaned the connections with a firm brush and tried the test button again. Everything returned to normal and the bike functioned as it should.
Still confused to what had gone on, I took everything to my LBS to check it over. They inspected the bike and reported all the same faults I had been having including the display automatically lighting up when the battery is placed back onto the bike without the power button being pressed.
The battery is 4 weeks out of its warranty period and Shimano and Santa Cruz haven't offered any support and I've been billed for a new battery full price!
Prior to these faults, it had great range and no prior issues apart from the odd switch off on rough terrain. From looking into it, the 2nd picture indicates a soft start fault.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and managed to repair their battery?
