Positioning both the Kiox and the Garmin is a challenge.
I tried next to each other: no more place for the night-lights

Then both at centre, the original mount on the steering bar next to the stem.
To be able to charge the garmin on the bike, the Kiox must be to the front.

so let's try these on the stem:

20220610_145330rs.jpg

With the angled one the Garmin comes much too high.
The small one's outside diameter is a bit too large.

So let's remove 0.5mm of the outside diameter

It fits !

That's better:

No need to throw this away, it was only there for a week.

Maxxis off, Pirelli on.

Comparison between a Maxxis Ikon Skinwall 27.5x2.2 and this Pirelli Mtb M 27.5x2.4.
The pirelli is a bit rougher, with a bit higher knobs at the side.
20220611_102628rs.jpg

Approx the same width and height:

I don't have a Rekon to compare the Pirelli M.
But this image shows Rekon vs Ikon.
the Pirelli M looks a lot like the Rekon (left)

Only the Garmin before the Kiox is possible, which makes the Garmin's charging port inaccessible.

So the Garmin on the stem tube with this thing:

Great work but way too much going on there for me.

Buying the right fitting Garmin stem holder the first time, could have made it easyer :)
But the lathe is there anyways, took less than 60 seconds to modify.

Another day another package :)
Going back from clickpedals to flatpedals.
A 34t to replace the 36t, better for climbing in tour+
The XT M8100-IR shifter to replace the M6100-IR.
A cable to connect the 12V night light to the motor.
And some spareparts.

Well that went too easy.

The cable comes mounted to the shifter, and is attached somewhere inside it.
So I cut the protective cap off the 'old' cable at the derailleur, loosened the screw,
and got the cable out of the sleeve towards the steering bar.
New cable into the 'old' sleeve, fixed the shifter, fixed the cable at the derailleur, ready.

Adjusted the derailleur somewhat, ready to test !

The XT M8100-IR shifter is a noticeable harder to push compared to the more gentle M6100-IR.
Advantages:
-Rapidfire: Shifting happens on the rising edge of the shift trigger.
-Shifting down has now 4 possible steps instead of 3 steps.
-Shifting up with thumb push towards the front has now 2 steps.

A bit strange that shifting up with index finger towards the back is still 1x.
But I never used that anyway.

The Cube Acid C1-IB flat pedals went on easily.

In tour-mode, I lack some power in climbing, so I need a smaller chainring.
On my other ebike, the 38t chainring (with a 11t smallest cog) gives me enough topspeed.
So I bought the chainring that is closest to 34.545t

This, and some blue loctite is all I needed:

36t off, left thread:
20220618_194013rs.jpg

34t on, 30Nm:
20220618_200504rs.jpg

The (cheap) lockring tool worked perfect !
The (already reduced) chain length seems ok, ready to go !

In 'Tour+' mode, the 34t behaves a lot better than the 36t, while the topspeed in 'Turbo' stays OK.
The XT shifter with the double-up was a good decision too !

As mentioned before, these 160SL are delivered with different brake levers.

Thinking:
Will I order this, or not ?
Will I order this, or not ?
Will I order this, or not ?
...
Clipboard02.jpg

Too late, I ordered it :)

I hesitated for a while to upgrade front+back to the XT M8120 (274.54 eur), like the 160AT, but several reviews showed me that there's no real added value in it for me. Of course the m6100's splitpen is not ideal, while the ventilated brakepads, more settings at the lever etc is better, but it's not relevant to me.

Maybe I'll buy a matte MT520 4-piston caliper (like the one at the back) and a brake hose too,
so the complete front shiny 'Deore' labeled 4-piston kit can go to my Rockrider e-hardtail.

The Pirelli Scorpion "S" arrived yesterday, comparison to the "M" I have for a week:
20220625_142447rs.jpg
20220625_142615rs.jpg

I mounted the Scorpion "S" on the original NewMan 30 wheel of the Cube,
the Scorpion "M" moved to a 27.5 SunRingle 35 wheel I still had.
The SunRingle received a 203 Shimano rotor, so swapping is done in less than a minute.

Comparision of both front wheel options:
20220625_151326rs.jpg

20220625_151332rs.jpg

The 'feel' of the compound is the same, not so soft and sticky as the Assegai,
and I hope a lot less draggy too. The endresult:
20220625_152400rs.jpg

Update 1: As expected, the "S" drives a lot better on loose and enduro. No lateral tyre roll.
On asphalt, there's no extra rolling resistance notable, the bike goes to it's topspeed very well.

Update 2: I did a tour with a lot of mud. The "S" behaves perfectly at the front.
A few times the "M" at the back slipped through a bit, but it was predictable, and stayed in control.

Perfect combination, maybe I could have put a 2.6 "M" at the back on a 35 wheel.
Sources say compared to the 2.4 they have a lower rolling resistance due to less relative deformation under load at high pressure.
I don't know if that's true (until I see a decent report of a scientific test setup)

Yes, iirc you have the 140.
That was the bike that I was after, but unavailability with 750wh, Rob's video and the magnificent color made me buy the 160.
I'm smaller than 1m78/5.8" so the 27.5" is no problem for me.

We want to see pictures, or it didn't happen 😊😊

42km 530hm mainly tour+, used +-65% battery

I'm looking to buy a Bosch powered lamp with a switch close to the grips.
We often drive from the fields into a dark downhill in the bush, so speed and ergonomics is key here.

There's a hole in the market.
I want such lamp to also have a QC3.x USB output port for occasional smartphone-GPS tours.

Then for avoiding pedal strikes, I want to replace the 165 with shorter crank arms.
160mm? 155mm? 152mm?

There is 1 bottle holder mount on the down tube, but when looking more closely there is room enough for 2 bottles.
Are there decent 1-to-2 adapters, or should I simply drill 2 holes ?

Based on the conditions, the second bottle holder mount could then be used for a second water-bottle, a tools-bottle or a heavy class-X lock.

Close enough, I just have to reduce the space between the 1 and the 6.
Multiple samples of shinyness :

Some parts from BikeInn/TradeInn.
My least preferred shop since I once lost myself in their Robotized Whatsapp "service"

But the only webshop that has the post lever and the caliper available for a normal price.

I already have the matte brake lever, tube, fluid and bleed kit,
everything is ready to replace the front brakes and move the "old" kit to the Rockrider.
20220705_193233rs.jpg

--EDIT---
The caliper inside the beautiful BR-MT520 box was completely damaged, impossible to understand what somebody ever has tried with this.
Robotized Whatsapp service again, pictures, return claim, their proposal for partly refund, refused, complete refund.
Some day I will get my money back, but I did not wait for that to order a caliper at BikeDiscount.

@BeBiker . Do you plan to modify your seat height due to shorter crank ?

It will be adjusted in function of riding comfort and efficiency. We'll see if that is necessary, the difference is 5mm.

That Ergon looks a bit like our Venec saddle, but longer.
Can you do a side-to-side comparison with some images ?
