Cube battery cover bodge! Shocking (includes pic)

So.... When you've opened the boot of the car, and realized you've left the battery cover (of your GF's bike) in the garage, after the swearing has died down you think now what?

Drive home to get it? Hmm, 50 minutes each way.
Totally abandon the ride? Nope.
Blame your riding partner? Possible but the bikes are my responsibility
Blame yourself? Err, Nope.
Or, try to save the ride? Why not.
Luckily I keep a lot of spares and bits and bobs in the car and Ta Da! One Temporary battery cover!
Anyhow, We had a great ride and no harm came to the battery.
But I wouldn't recommend it and have no plans for a Kickstarter campaign any time soon.

Good bodge . My Cube battery cover fell off on a ride and I didn’t notice until I got home. Ordered a new one but it took weeks to arrive during Covid. So I butchered a front mudguard that was laying around and strapped it over the battery and rode it like that for several weeks. Looked silly but worked fine.

Yup, good bodge. The silver duct tape makes it look PRO.

I’ve always Velcro strapped the battery cover when I transport the Trek’s on the rack. I’m not 100% confident on its security during a vibrating road drive.

To be fair, we were only riding at Cannock, some off piste, some main trails and it isn't very rocky. If we were in deepest darkest Wales I might have thought twice.
Then again.......

Never had an issue with the battery cover, but better safe than sorry so bought Velcro straps and buckles from Amazon>

Bought a roll of that myself last year
I cut up a few strips and keep them in the car
Very handy stuff generally
