New to the sight, I well be picking up 2020 levo expert in a couple weeks. How concerned should I be about creek crossing. I would expect to turn motor off and keep the motor from being submerged as best as possible. Thanks

Hello Duane

Welcome aboard. Yeah, keep the motor out of the water(y)

Got my Giant Yamaha motor a bit wet & caused a minor headache

Hi Duane
The reality is that eMTB motors have piss poor seals and putting the motor under water will almost always cause expensive headaches. Water ingress through the bearings is only a part of it - there is also power couplings that are not sealed that well and although I have not pulled a motor of the last 2 generations I did help a buddy with a much older bike and that had a breather on the motor to stop condensation build-up - not sure if the modern ones are like that, but as the expectation from the manufacturers is that it is electric powered so you shouldn't get it wet, who knows.

Thanks all, my local bike shop was leading me to the idea that as long as the bike was powered down it would be ok. Where I ride one trail has 3 creek crossings and could be 12-16 in. deep with spring runoff.

A couple rides I do, I walk the bike through the streams on the back wheel. As they are a little over crank height that keeps the motor dry.
