Connectors virtually unprotected

I was actually quite surprised to find out that there is virtually no protection to the connectors from water/debris. Two small screws, a light plastic cover (without any seals), with the connectors fully exposed behind it. I can only imagine that with any ride in the rain, these are being soaked in water every time again, as water running down the frame can simply enter the wide seam between cover and frame.
Having already had a (warranty-) motor change due to failed bearings, I'm now actually even more scared to take the bike out in the rain....

If you look at the connectors you will see that they have tried to make them sealed and there will be blanking plugs in the light sockets. But I reckon riding an ebike in the rain and getting it plastered in wet mud - is just asking for trouble. Just like going down the motorway in the rain with your engine trays off and wondering why your air con doesn't work in the summer
