I’d like you guys to help me decide between the Commencal Meta Power SX (Race) and Nukeproof Megawatt 297 (Elite). Both are mullet shredders with similar travel numbers, I’m going to use this to self shuttle trails on the gnarlier side of things, lots of fast rocky sections and steep rock slabs where the extra room in the back will be nice. Both have decent specs for their price, although the Commencal is a little better value. Here’s what I have so far:

Commencal Pros:
-At 6’0” I’m smack in the middle of the size large frame range
-I really like the Rockshox ultimate suspension combo and the TRP brakes are used by downhill racers so are plenty powerful
-Battery is removable and can be swapped at the trailhead

Cons:
-There are no reviews as of yet so I would be buying blind
-Trail casing tires will have to be replaced
-Commencal known for ok fit and finish but not the best

Nukeproof Pros:
-A lot of people where I ride like the Mega for our terrain and the suspension design is tried and true
-Removable battery

Cons:
-I am in between size L and XL, won’t be able to demo
-Frame has been out for a number of years, geo may be updated soon
-Some people have complained about the battery cover sagging
-DB8 brakes are questionable and may need to be swapped with something else early on

Thanks!

My eldest has the meta sx analog and it is a fast capable rig, he also has the absolute and my youngest has the absolute 24 dirt jumpers. We have had no quality issues with the bikes after the initial build was completed.
meta sx was perfect out of the box.
absolute came with a chain that was a link to short and needed another spacer on the head tube to get it dialed.
absolute 24 perfect out of the box

That is my commencal history and I would buy more of their bikes, I probable would have got the sx power but levo was on sale and bosch versions were not released. plus I have specialized shops in town and I am 1300kms from commencal.
