I'm replacing my stock air shock with a Fox DHX coil shock. Neither Fox or Specialized recommend or say it's applicable to this bike but I've seen several peeps rocking these things on the levo and they love them so don't try to talk me out of it.
There are some other posts that touch on this subject but nothing with any science behind it. At $130 a spring I'm just not that well off that I can do a lot of experimenting. I've located a spring rate calculator at the fox site but it wants some specs I can't find anywhere.
Specs I do have:
2022 Turbo levo
Cascade link: Rising rate 28% (Stock 20%)
Stock shock dimensions: 210x55
Rear wheel travel: 160mm (Stock 150)
New shock: Fox Racing DHX 210x55
Spec I don't have:
Weight bias: I would just do a calc putting a scale under each wheel with me on the bike in riding position but my rear wheel is in the shop so I'm hoping someone has this at their finger tips.
The calculator default rear wheel bias is 60% which gives me a 550# rate and an adjustment of -100# for the high rize rate of the cascade links. =450# The sight gives these general adjustment guidelines: Alternatively, you can use 55% for XCountry, 65% for Freeride, and 70% for Downhill.
Now to blow all of that up.
I'm also thinking of moving up to a 230x65 shock with the cascade components long shock kit.
Thoughts?
Thanks
