I used Classifieds 2x Powershift hub in my April fools article ......
But now they've just combined it themselves with 12 speed cassette, giving you 24 speeds and a 530% range from the 11-40 Cassette .. However due to duplicating gear ranges through the overlap, you actually only end up with 16 unique speeds.
The 248g Cassette is 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 22, 25, 29, 34 & 40t .
Don't really think this is going to be aimed at/adopted much by the EMTB market. If they did a 6 speed cassette with a tiny derailleur, then maybe ..
One thing I claimed in the April Fools thread was that the wireless rear hub switcher didn't need charging - it seems that bit is actually true ! A shame the AXS derailleurs don't also self charge as they'd also then need a far smaller battery.
Interestingly, a similar setup was available 40 years ago in the form of the Sachs Huret Commander 2x6.
Using the Orbit hub and a 6 speed cassette, the system even had indexing before Shimano (Though Suntour also had Indexing in 1969 and Schulz Funiculo paitented it back in the 1930's and even had 40t cogs !) :
Retro Sexy !
The bike gears and components section of the company was bought out by SRAM in 1997, hence their move into IGH models for several years.
A page all about the Orbit hub for anyone into retro madness :
