I’ll be with a couple of novice(ish) family members so rogate and hindhead could put me in the doghouse ?As the others have said there's the SDW. You're not far from Rogate Bike park and Hindhead as well. There are plenty of trails around if you know where to look.

If you go to QECP with family, drive to the higher car park as there is a large playground and adventure course. If you cycle up a fireroad from here you can get to the start of the "bermageddon" part of the blue route which is great fun and might be ok for kids depending on age / ability. I took my 4 year old down there on a mac ride bike seat and she loved it. You can also go for a quick loop while the family plays.
If you want some gnarly stuff, look on trail forks for the trails off QECP. There is also Stoughton DH. Check out Wyn Masters on Strava, he is based in Chichester and you can see where he rides. Further east you've got Houghton and Steyning DH too.
That’s bad news , there’s some tasty trails over there !lol.
There are some gentle trails in Hindhead, the more well known "off-piste" ones have been shut down by the forestry commission but the wide bridleways are still open.
QECP is probably the best bet for a mixed ability group.
