Assuming all things being equal e.g. fit what are peoples thoughts on getting a cheaper full face helmet to go alongside my existing trail helmet vs a more expensive convertible (DH certified) helmet as the only helmet (the current helmet is about 5 years old and the lining is starting to show its age).
The need for the full face protection is occasional rather than regular.

I've pretty much retired my trail helmet and wear a full face fox proframe helmet. It's extremely light, lots of ventilation, I can quite happily wear it for hours riding.
It isn't a high protection helmet though, by that I mean a good bang and although it would protect you the helmet will need replacing.
Compared to my full face 661 helmet that feels absolutely bomb proof but unless you're doing uplifts on a cold day I find it incredibly warm and rarely wear it.

I always wear a full face now after an expensive trip to the dentist , I went with a Specialized Gambit , very light , loads of ventilation, mount my go pro under the peak 👍👍
