Have 2 Instinct Powerplays and want to buy a generator that will charge both at the same time. Looking at the Honda 1000. Any electricians on here that can answer this for me? Trying to stay as small as possible while not running generator at its maximum.

Power = Current X Voltage

So look at your charger voltage and current output. This will give you a rough idea of how much power it consumes.

For example. If it was 50Volts and 2Amps. Then it consumes 100 Watts. So two chargers would be 200 Watts. Allowing for losses and generator load, you'd probably want to double that for the generator.

Rocky chargers require an input of 4 amps @120 VAC. 120 x4 = 480 watts. Two chargers will double that so you are at 960 watts. I have the Honda 2000 watt and use it for RV ing and household power outages. That’s my recommendation. I think the 1000 would be marginal. What is the price difference these days between the 1000 and the 2000?

Honda Canada has a price difference of $350 between the 1000 and the 2200, I would go for the 2200. The 2200 would probably run on auto throttle while charging the Rockies, much quieter if that’s a concern.
