I caught a stick in my chain ring while on the Palm Canyon Epic. The stick sheared off the outer nylon guide plate. I was able to source a replacement through Mark at Pro Bike Supply, located in Newport Beach Calif.

For reasons I don't understand, the chain guide is not a commonly "In-Stock" type of item and had to be special ordered through Specialized. I had Mark order the the whole guide kit, item # S211200004 for me. It only took a few days to receive the new chain guide.

As a side note, pay particular attention to the spacer washers and their orientation. They vary in thickness and if installed in the wrong position, will cause excess chain rubbing and drivetrain noise.
