Carbon Bar question … From experiences on E-bikes

Hey All

I am VERY experienced using both Carbon and Aluminum bars, but have a question for those who have made the switch on an E-Bike.

I know all the pros and cons in terms of vibration dampening, etc., but the ONE single area that has me a bit concerned about making the switch is compliancy. The OneUp carbon bars or Renthal are the 2 I am considering.

I am primarily a DH style e-bike rider … in other words I climb solely to descend :)

My concern with making the switch to a VERY compliant bar like the OneUp is that when going down, it will be a bit harder to manual drops (ie Rock drops).

The one area I DO notice about making the switch from Analog bikes to Digital bikes last year is the amount of effort needed to manual off a rock drop while descending. In other words riding a long rock slab down then having to manual a gap halfway down. The added weight of the e-bike makes this function a bit more challenging.

The 2 bars I am looking at BOTH provide vibration dampening, but the OneUp has a reputation of being very compliant vs very stiff like the Renthal.

So for those that made the switch, do you find a STIFF bar much better for e-bikes than a FLEXIBLE bar simply for the reason its easier to unload weight from the front wheel (manualing etc.). I can see the flex damping helping on chattery downhill sections, but perhaps being a hindrance when trying to lift the front wheel.

Thoughts  I am not keen on a $200 experiment without some feedback (y)

What do you weigh?

a 160lb rider hanging off a flexy bar is very different to a 240lb rider doing the same.

If a little bit of bar flex in your bar is causing you issues manualling. practice manualling a LOT more.

No need to overthink it, just load those Renthals in & call it a day:cool:

Im running the 800mm /35mm stem /40mm rise bars. The vibration damp is very slight & almost hard to tell. The 36mm Fox 150mm front fork that is soaking up some of that vibration, im sure
