• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Brose T shutting down after derestricting

Hey guys!

First post here.

I did the speed sensor repositioning in my E-ST900 from 2021 (Brose T) to bypass the speed limit, and it works great, except, after some 15 minutes the assistance shuts down and I need to turn off an on the controller to get it immediately working again.

Any idea of what it could be? I don't get any error, could it be some sort of "cheat" protection from the firmware?

Thanks!

Disclaimer: My bike is used in non public roads only and I comply with all the local regulations.

Hi, not sure if I understand what you mean, but it is supposed to work with assistance up to 25km/h ( original mode ) and I just did the crankshaft magnet/sensor repositioning trick.

If I simply cycle off/on the controller, it works great again.

It seems to happen at a steady time period.

I already tried adjusting the magnet/sensor. It also seems to me the software is detecting the hack, since it seems to happen at a fixed time period...

Shit, I guess that we are in 2021 the same way we were in the early 90's with combustion engines and fuel injection ( at the time it seemed complicated but I still own a 90's car with all that "simple" electronics these days ).

If I was a Brose employee I would be having a laugh with this kind of threads.

If I can't solve this I will build my own e-bike next time.

Strange times we are living these days. When I was younger everything was about making the most of the little processing power we had with existing chips/electronics. Now there's a lot of ( too much ) room left for limiting and controlling.
