Quick Q for the mechanics: I've installed a new set of 220m HS2 rotors but can see the some uneven pad contact. Photo attached shows that the rear rotor has a strip around the outer edge with no contact and is still shiny/fresh from factory.

The existing metallic pads had a light sand and looked good before installing the rotors, but you can see there's only a small contact patch on pad themselves. The pads themselves have had a few hundred km of use on some 200mm HS2, but seem to have plenty of life left.

I'm guessing both the rotors and pads just haven't fully bedded in yet? I've only run them for ~10km of specific bedding in riding on the road; series of gradual/faster slowdowns etc. They're running quiet but not overly powerful. Suppose I just need to take them out on some normal trails to get them fully worn in and improve that contact area??

.............err I wouldnt!! You will be wasteing your time. Clean up the rotors...which are in a right mess..........use new pads. I think your issue is that the rotors should have been cleaned with IPA before use.....and then used with new pads.
