Brake Levers feeling

I have a love/hate relationship with my Guide RE. I love how they brake with just touching the lever, little effort, hate that short travel they have. If you don’t learn to use them with much care they go pretty on off.

Shimano XT on my BH Multipla got more travel but lacks that snappy touch. Sometimes it’s too late if you don’t anticipate when coming from using the RE more often. More modular but a bit spongy

Tried Hope and Magura long time ago I can’t remeber now. Neither XTR or Saint or Zee.

This is not wich are the best, but how do they feel. Magura and Hope, XTR Saint Zee (or other brands) owners can tell me please? Thanks

I've got Code R's on the Levo and Hope Tech V4's on my normal bike. Both 200mm rotors.

The Hope's feel much more modulated to me (i.e. not on/off) but not spongy, there is no dead spot like the SRAM's (although this chap has designed something which may solve that - Deslackinators™ for SRAM® Guide and Code-R Brakes – Matter-Replicator), and I generally feel I have more braking power on sustained steep descents with the Hopes.

One point though - I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. The Hopes have the floating rotor and braided hose options which may improve the sustained descent bit...

Everyone prefers different things but for me the Hopes inspire confidence more than the SRAMs; I'll probably swap the brakes over at some point.

Hope that helps mate
