Bottomed out my shock- reassurance needed!

Hi
I bottomed out my FOX DPX2 when casing a landing on a lip when dropping to flat (at about 10 mph and a 4 ft drop). It made a big blunt knock sound ... I stopped and had a look and try the shock, all seemed as per usual and I carried on for the rest of the ride with no ill effects experienced and no changes in firmness or damping
Should I be concerned by the knock sound (it wasn't a "snapping" sound)

My son (15) who was watching said he saw a spray come out of the shock; when I asked him to describe it... he then said he wasn't sure and that maybe he didn't see anything (bloody typical!)

Is there anything I should check/ do?

Many thanks

just check all the adjustments still work (ie rebound adjust actualluy does change the rebound etc etc) .

Shocks are fine being bottomed out generally speaking - although you shouldnt be doing it frequently.

I've had Fox shocks, but never your model, so fine details may differ.
Assuming that all is well and that the sag was OK, consider adding an air tuning spacer in the positive side. That will cause the air spring profile to ramp up a bit. That will mean that you will need an even bigger drop to bottom the shock. Reset the sag afterwards. It should not alter the feel of the shock when on general trail riding.
