Bosch Performance line CX gen 5 (BDU38) and the DJI Avinox M1 Drive Unit have the same bolt pattern?

Looking at both motors, the two bolt pattern looks identical? Have we finally got a motor standard?

Even if the bolt pattern is the same, many frames are designed to fit around the casing so it's unlikely you can just neatly stick a DJI into a Bosch frame. A proper standard will require that casing dimension are somewhat uniform between manufactures.

As well as position of the output shaft in relation to the bolts, or chainstay lengths would get all messed up when swapping as well.

Not to mention the even harder challenge of battery compatibility into the frames. If you wanted a standard you’d need battery casings to be standardized as well, and then displays, both of which are getting more and more integrated into frames.

The industry doesn’t want standardisation…. Not for motors….. not for batteries….. imagine if your customers had choice…. not being locked into your closed protocols….. that you couldn’t implement obsolescence by stopping support….. if you could implement that utter madness would ensue marketing directors and CFO’s would gather up their pitchforks and hunt you down like a dog……
