Anyone with older kiox (still unsure why new doesnt have it yet) that uses the navigation?
Is it clear? Is it only turn based? Is it easy to use when let's say map out a ride in advance with all trails you like and follow it?

Bit inbetween if i should get a good cheap basic gps with OSM to see local trails when just freeriding in the countryside...
If any tips, they're welcome

I know i can use komoot too with a phone case but i'm affraid something happens to my phone...

I used one for a while and liked it. I may yet upgrade the Purion on my current bike.

It is very clear, because the display only shows a line indicating your route. Nothing else. So it's easy to see, as you approach a junction in the trail, which direction you should be going.

It has no planning features or route adjustment options - you have do do it all in advance. So if you see an interesting alternative while you're out, it won't show you where it goes.

You have to have your phone with you - it's not independent and relies on the phone (which can be in your pocket or bag). So it's not for you if you want to leave your phone behind. That can also make it a bit flaky at times, if the link between it and the phone is dodgy.

Thanks.
I was thinking indeed of planning routes ahead and my phone always comes along.

Just wondering if i should get a Garmin or not has that has more features.

Bosch is VERY unclear when they'll release the navigation on the new kiox that i have.

It is a blue line without any map/direction, but indicating roughly the way to go. In most case, it is clear enough. When you come to crossroad you have to be a bit more attentive to figure out. What I like very much is the fact that you get the estimation of the "arrival time" based on your planned track progress. However, for the navigation itself it is imho better to rely on the komoot app: but you could use a tiny headset to get the komoot direction through vocal audio instructions and have your phone in the pocket.

However, there is a "BUT". Since the upgrades of this summer (both Kiox firmware and IOS app for Bosch eBike Connect), ...it stopped functioning properly: everything appears OK but after a couple of minutes the navigation suddenly stops. Very very annoying: basically navigation feature is currently inexistant (at least for me) although it was working fine in the last two years. Big software regression. Frustrating. No way to roll-back.

Somebody from the development team of Bosch answered on my AppStore downgraded note for the IOS app as such:
« Thank you for reaching out. We are aware of the problem with random Kiox navigation stops, and are already working on a solution for our users at full speed. Thank you for your patience. Your Bosch eBike Team"

I find it good that they reacted, even if it is astonishing that such an important bug is not fixed since a month (which indicates that the navigation is not considered as a business critical feature as a roll-back to a former version could have been a possibility in such case).

Looking forward for the fix.
