Hi All, browsing through threads as you do being new to the forum and recall seeing someone mentioning that their LBS when doing an update to their firmware, was asked by LBS if they wanted the 10% battery reserved for external lights to be released to increase available power use for the motor. Is this a thing? If so would it be recommended to claim the 10% back?

Also OOI how much of the power is held back to protect the battery from being full discharged and causing potential harm?

Cheers

Think that's a misunderstanding by the person that posted it. There is no partitioning of the battery for the light

having said that I decided to do some digging ,and this thread here

Low Battery Cutout for Bosch Gen4? | Electric Bike Forums - Q&A, Help, Reviews and Maintenance (electricbikereview.com)

seems to imply that if you have the lights enabled in the firmware that the motor does indeed hold back a small percentage of the battery to run the lights (and e gears if you have them), And the percentage held back is variable depending on how many watts the lighting system is configured for, seems bonkers to me, but wouldnt be the first time bosch have done something apparently silly.

Might be worth checking whether your lighting is enabled in the firmware -but you need a dealer to do this. Mine were disabled, so no magic range increase for me

Cheers Mteam, next time I have a need for the bike to LBS I will pose the question and see what I get back?
