Bosch 300WH battery

After thinking about my planned rides and the distances I have previously covered in a day I decide to buy a spare battery. However the costs for new 400 & 500WH batteries are crazy and as well as not needing the extra range these give, I'm not happy purchasing a used battery on eBay so after a few nights on Google I found and purchased a new 300WH battery from a company in Germany cheaper than I could find it anywhere in the UK. It arrived in 3 days via a tracked parcel service and was delivered by Parcelforce. With the current pound/euro exchange rate the cost of 299.90 euros including delivery equated to £281. And I bet it feels super lightweight compared to the 500. I have a 500/400 pair and the 400 is significantly lighter. I always feel a bit cheated when I have to put the 500 in my rucsac - it wish it was lighter when it was flat!!!!

Also I bet you notice it in the bike too (the light weight - that is)?

This is a bonus and something I hadn't considered. I weighed both batteries this morning and (with their neoprene covers) there is a big difference;
500 = 2.6kg
300 = 2kg

The link you provided shows a 400Wh battery and is claimed to weigh 2.85, kg I assume. That's the old 40 cell battery that most Bosch emtbs were using untill the 500Wh showed up.

The weight you get is what one would expect from a 30 cell battery. The 400Wh and 500Wh are 40 cell batteries. You're saying the 300Wh battery is an Active Line. That's their cheaper ebike product line, and Bosch has been offering a rack mount 300Wh battery for a while.

Lets look at the math. A 30 cell (10s3p) battery using the same 3,4Ah cells as the 500Wh frame mount battery should result in a 360Wh battery, not 300Wh. (30*3,4Ah*3,6V).

If we use the same 2,8Ah cells as the older 400Wh frame mount battery we get 302Wh. So it seems this 300Wh battery you've got is using 30 of the older cells. That's just my guess though. I expect it to be dureable and to work well, I just wish it was a 360Wh battery with the newer cells (like what Focus is using), they weight would be about the same.

wow half a kilo is great and I bet you could get about 22miles out of if?

Update - instead of using my rucksack, I've purchased a Topeak 3L Midloader frame bag that takes the Bosch battery. I've added a layer of 1cm foam inside the bottom of the bag and lay a strip of old car carpet mat on top of the battery to stop it moving around. I find this much better than the weight higher up on my shoulders.
