This article got me thinking.

How to Replace an Electric Bike Battery if the Model is Discontinued or the Company is Out of Business

Imagine a service that took your existing battery and repacked with the latest, more energy dense cells. Perhaps had some insight into remapping the battery control unit etc.

You could then imagine a plug in, say, Shimano or Bosch 700Wh battery or a very lightweight 300Wh battery for short rides.

Possible? Looking at you @MattyB as your knowledge outstrips most people I know of. Or you @TrailwattsUK as you’re not far off this as a business.

There are already specialist companies online that can rebuild your batteries according to Google. It didn't take somebody very long to spot an opportunity in a growing market.

The Panasonic cells in my Giant are Lithium Cobalt Manganese and have a 2 year warranty. They can be recharged 1000 times@100% before the electronics will step it down to 800@80%, then 600@60%. That should see me for a good few years use I reckon.
