Battery cover won't clip back in to place? ('20 Stereo 160)

Been fine up until today, I popped the battery out then when I put it back in the cover has decided that it won't clip back on? When pushed on it kind of sounds and looks like it's on but can be pulled off with a very light touch, like if hopped off a curb it would pop off. Tried greasing it and adjusting the post in and out but it's made no difference.

It feels like the catch in the cover isn't grabbing onto the ball on the post properly.

Any ideas?

Think I've got it, maybe. There are ball bearings in there that hook around the ball, so I've had a bit of success degreasing all around inside. Still not working 100% of the time so I'll keep at it and put a Velcro strap around it for now. Anyone happen to know the part number for the part of the latch that's in that battery cover just in case I need a new one?

Thanks I read that yesterday but as far as I can see the only part number mentioned is for the whole cover, apparently the latch bit is a separate part number which isn't mentioned, I'll have another read through in case I missed it.

When the cover doesn't clip on, before you push the cover closed is the button flush with the surround or pushed in.

If its not pushed it it wont latch, so a simple push of the button while the cover is away from the post should then make it latch when you try again.

Good shout but I tried all different combinations of everything, I reckon the ball bearings inside weren't popping out like they should due to debris being in there maybe. Degreaser seems to have fixed it for now.
