I own Orbea with Bosch motor. Today I bought a Giant with Yamaha motor for the wife. Both has similar battery 500wh and same voltage. The Bosch can only charge 2A on 110V. The Yamaha can charge 6A on 110v. Took the Bosh 8 hours to get full charge while only take 2.5 hours to do the Yamaha. That’s a game changer. I can ride twice a day with break while waiting for the charge. While with Bosch I have to have 2 batteries. Is there anyway for those electric know how guys to figure out how I can use the Yamaha charger to charge the Bosch battery?

Bosch does sell rapid charger 6A but only on 220V.

Not without a bodge and depends if the battery can take it (data plate info), you can buy a faster charger for the Bosch.

Where do you see the 110v-6A charger. I must be blind cause I don’t see it. A direct link would be appreciated. Cause I googled it and can’t find it. Went to Bosch website and they also don’t specify 110v-6A. Only 220v

Yes Bosch sell rapid charger but not 110v. At this side of the world we use 110v
From my quick research they both uses 18650 cell battery. So what gives?
It's not the cells it's what the battery management circuit can do.

You are of course correct bosch Don't list a 110v 6A charger, weirdly they have made them market specific. Normally the handle 110 to 240v and all that's different is the power cord. Strange.....

You could use a 110v to 220v converter they dont cost that much with the 6amp bosch charger.
must ebike chargers are pretty slow, even 6amp is not really a fast charger, faster than 2amp of cause.

best of luck

Cost is relative I guess. To run 6A-220v reliably you need about 1600 watt converter. Runs about $100. However the biggest issue is the size! I really don’t understand why Bosch doesn’t offer it when Yamaha does.

To charge using 2A-110v is 8 hours. Using 6A-220v is 2.5 hours. I think that’s really fast. Just about a right time to rest from 25 miles 4000 feet climb I say :)

According to Giant, their newer batteries have the cells spaced twice as far apart than in other manufacturers' batteries.
This allows more air in between cells which keeps them cooler when charging, which allows them to be safely charged at a faster rate.

A 800-1000 watt converter would be plenty, 6amps is the charger output ,battery is 36v , plus 100% safety factor is about 450watts max.
My wife has a giant with 6amp charger, I have a bosch 4 amp, charge times not that different for us, 2 amp charger is pretty small for a higher end bike. I did look at the specs on a Orbea for a mate that was one of the things I picked up,They are very $$$ in NZ (Orbea bikes)
Can you take a pic of your charger specs on back?, is it a factory bosch charger?

It is factory Bosch charger. It is unfortunate we have 2A for USA only because of the 110V. Sound like 220v converter is the simplest and easier to use. Thanks for the help!
