Axs reverb on focus sam2

Hi all hoping for some insight:

I have a focus sam2 2021 6.8 model in size small, I think it comes standard with a 150mm dropper? I’m considering putting in a 125mm Axs reverb dropper instead, I have short legs and the current dropper when fully extended is a bit too long even when put as far into frame as it will go, are there any negatives to going to shorter Axs dropper that I haven’t considered? I suppose I don’t know what the difference in insertion length is between what came as standard compared to an Axs reverb?

Any help or insight will be helpful before I purchase it

Thanks
Lee

Measure your existing dropper, insertion length and also the crank centre to seat height wherever it is when you’re seated.

All the measurements you need for the new AXS dropper are on the SRAM website so choose the closest one to your current dropper. That’s what I do anyway.

125mm droppers are sometimes found cheaper, but make sure the highest and lowest points will cover the ranges of your existing post and that the insertion length will fit your SAM. You should be able to measure the internal insertion by removing your existing post and measuring down to any kinks or stops in the seat tube.

Thanks mate, I was torn between just getting the same size as current 150, or going for one size smaller in the hope the fit was better,

I know what you mean, one of my mates can’t set his dropper low enough so that it’s not the correct height for him when at max extension.

He needs a shorter dropper really so that it can be set properly, there’s nothing more annoying than having to fiddle to get the height right after you’ve had it dropped.

A 125mm might work for you, that’s why I mention the height from crank centre to seat, the measurements might work on a shorter dropper without too much of the dropper post lower being out of the seat stay when it’s dropped.

Yeah I think need to do some
Measuring haha, just been looking online and can’t he current dropper that’s in there seems to have a bigger insertion length too by about 10mm, over the same size 150mm reverb, currently I can’t get the collar slammed to the frame so that would reduce potential ride height too over current set up
