hi

love my levo, but as I ride cheeky it can get tiresome if I have to do lots of lifts, I really like my exe but sometimes it’s not quite enough power for me. I’ve not tried an sx motor but as an elderly xc bimbler I’m concerned I might not have enough cadence for it to work well, but the dream is a bit more power than the exe but as light and liftable as the exe,( fazua is out for reliability reasons, shimano for previously owned reliability reasons) but I’m open to the sx, esp the whyte 140-allegedly 16.9kg……

so have you ridden them all, does the sx work at lower speeds/lower cadences and just plodding around or is it a go-go-go motor.

does anybody know of any places (uk/Oxfordshire) that does a demo/hire sx or would anybody with an sx like to let me have a quick test ride so I can evaluate the motor,

SX works very well as an all round motor, its nice and quiet, feels powerful, has low drag with the motor off. You can take it out for all day XC, you can crank out DH laps, it’s great all round. Want less power? Just turn it down.

I rode with a mate on a elyte for a long XC ride in the Brecon Beacons the other week, his bike happily did everything my full fat did, rode up churned up bridal ways, along byways, happily rolled along on the moors.

I sadly haven’t had the opportunity to try the TQ, but have demoed the elyte 140 and 150 back to back with the Levo/KSL, Fazua and Bosch full fat. SX is more powerful with more range than the Specilized SL1.1 motor, and much quieter. Keeps up well with the Bosch FF and FF Levo until you try to ride up a cliff.

I used Pedal Syndicate in Monmouth (near Forest of Dean) to demo an elyte, they might be able to help if you can’t find somewhere closer.

I've had 2 TQ bikes (Fuel EXe and SLash+) and my partner has a Devinci e-Troy lite with the Bosch SX.
Both great systems!
The Bosch indeed has a bit more punch and range. Not by a lot, like 10%. One thing I liked with the Bosch is it's more dynamic. Meaning where I might shift from trail to boost mode on the TQ, on the bosch you can just increase your cadence and get more power out of the motor.
The TQ is a lot quieter. The Bosch has some rattle when descending, and a loud freewheel when backpedaling.
TQ has a much better display and ANT+ connectivity to devices like Garmin.

So yes, the SX has a bit more power than the TQ, but honestly if you want more power than the TQ I would just get a bike with a Bosch CX motor and a 600w battery, then tune the assist down to increase the range some.

Hi Towzer,here’s my tuppence worth…
I’m 63yo-85kg, reasonably fit and active, but with osteoarthritis in both knees and bought an SX powered bike last year.
For general all round use it does me fine and I don’t really struggle having to lift it in and out my car amongst
other places which I did with a FF.
The added kick obtained pedalling
faster in emtb or turbo is quite addictive but it’s still happy tootling around in eco or tour, and I can easily manage to get up things I would never attempt on a manual powered bike.Ive just recently swapped out the “enduro spec” wheels and tyres for a lighter set and this has pepped things up adding even more fun.
There’s plenty of people who will never see past a FF bike, but don’t write off the SX system ,you might be pleasantly surprised how better it is than the other mid power motors.
