There seems to be an enormous choice of types of tyres available for every single application. I have a specialized Levo HT 2020, the original tyres are getting a bit worn out so I will need to replace them soon. (29x2.3) I don‘t go real off road through forests with extreme trails that often, only occasionally, most of my riding is the fire trail type and on road or cycleways, so I don’t need an extreme off road only tyre, what I want is an all round tyre? Have been looking at the continental mountain king, does anyone have any recommendation? thanks

Conti MK will be good. If you want proper grip get them with the black chilli compound. If it doesn't say black chilli compound in the advert, then it isn't. The BCC compound does that magical thing of being high grip yet lower rolling resistance than you would think, and with good wear as long as you don't ride on granite.

cross king might be a better fit for what he is riding. SquireRides suggested vittoria mezcal - that looks like an awesome softroader with that easy rolling centre ridge, and still high volume. The mk is also high volume - just much more open tread which makes it more off road.
