Android Phone - 80% charge

It's cold, wet, stormy and crap .. so time for a boring post ..

For a long time I've wanted an option to limit my Android phone to only charge to 80%. But it didn't exist. It would optionally slow charge to help battery longevity, but no charge limit.

OK, most phones are classed as disposable these days, but it would be nice to at least have the option of it lasting longer ..

Then, suddenly, this has appeared ! Presumably from an update and I've not changed any settings ..

The curious thing is .. if charging is limited to 80% UNTIL you unplug your phone .... how does it magically charge above that once it's not connected to a power source ?

You have to keep in mind Android is semi open source, for manufacturers. The screen shot is from my phone, yours may be running a different version or even if not, it may be the provider has altered how that aspect works for a particular device. Or it could be Google nonsense, who knows?

My Fruit Fone is probably set to auto update. Suddenly things look or behave differently when I remove it from the magnetic charger in the morning. Then I need to relearn how-to’s again. I’m thinking of going back to basics.

Weird though , I’ve had a pile of Milwaukee batteries for almost 20 years. Lost a few and charge them randomly. They still work great.
